Thank you for stopping by my website. I am the face (and hands) behind Elaine Searer, Sewing & Alterations. I work hard to provide exceptional products and service to each of my customers.
My husband Jack and I live in rural Pennsylvania. I love the short commute to my sewing studio in our basement. I enjoy doing alterations and some custom sewing for local customers.
My online business is conducted mainly in my Etsy shop that I started in 2012. In those early days on Etsy, my shop inventory included handmade bags and doll clothes. Business was very slow. That all changed in 2015 when I made a fleece car seat poncho for my granddaughter. She and her parents were thrilled with the comfort and convenience of that poncho. I knew there had to be other parents and grandparents who would appreciate that same comfort and convenience when buckling their own little ones into their car seats. My car seat ponchos with their two-way zippers, hand slits, and wrist snaps have become an Etsy bestseller.
I’m thankful for my mom who taught me to sew and instilled in me a love for combining fabric patterns. She’s gone now, but I’m certain she would proud of and perhaps a bit surprised by my success as a seamstress. I also thank God every day for the gifts and talents He’s given me and the opportunity to use those gifts and talents to build my own business. To God be the glory!
